Over a 100 stars will congregate at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre today for the launch of Celebrity Cricket League Season 2.
The mega event will see the release of the CCL theme song and music video, with a live performance by singer Shaan.
“The track is the brainchild of composer Gaurav Dasgupta,” says Shaan. “It’s a very edgy, rock-meets-club kind of number which works as an anthem as well as a dance track. The lead guitar really revs up the energy and well, it’s called Phaad Denge Hum — that kind of sums up the song,” says Shaan, who has also sung the Deccan Chargers team anthem in the past.
“I’m a big cricket buff and I was hoping to play for Mumbai. Then I realised even the biggest stars who don’t have free dates for years, are tearing their hair out to be a part of this,” he adds with a laugh.
Director Mani Shankar, who has shot the official music video, reveals the effort that went into its making. “We had five-six people working simultaneously until last night on the final edit,” he says.
“All the big stars feature in it including Salman Khan and the team captains. The video has a larger than life feel and definitely an element of glamour as well.”
Tonight’s event will see the attendance of Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Suniel Shetty, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, Priyadarshan, Venkatesh, Sudeep, Arya, Jeeva and a host of actresses, along with the six CCL teams.
The itinerary for the glittering gala, to be hosted by Neha Dhupia and Sonu Nigam, includes a ramp show with the stars in their team jerseys, the unveiling of the CCL 2012 calendar, and live performances by Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Raima Sen, Poonam Bajwa, et al.
A bevy of beauties will light up the night as the calender features 18 top actresses from across the country, reveals CCL director Moorthy Srinivasulu. “It has been shot in Goa and Mumbai by photographer Venkatraman and it features actresses like Sonakshi, Kangna, Genelia, Shriya, Kajal Aggarwal and Priyamani.”
CCL2 is set to make history, and all roads will lead to Novotel tonight!
